Concept: At the age of eight and three quarters, I was a prolific songwriter. But I lacked the skill and talent to bring those songs to life. Fast forward twenty-one and a quarter years and I still lack any musical skill or talent. Thankfully technology and taste has advanced enough that even I can make music. So at the age of 30, I can finally unearth and bring to life the songs of Andrew, Age 8 3/4.

Proof of concept: For my cousin’s 18th birthday, I recorded him a couple songs and got them pressed to vinyl. They’re both in-jokes, so even though on the surface ‘Kill the Baby’ sounds like it’s very poor taste, there’s a soft and wholesome core. It’s a song about not succumbing to the pressures of society or growing up too fast.

On the flipside, ‘Big Boy Pants’ is a celebration of coming-of-age, adulthood, and the independence that comes with that. Big Boy Pants lyrics were written by my dad. This one’s got a little wiggle to it.
